Little bit about St Anne’s Church
A shrine by the sea in Talawila, a fishing village, is one of the most ancient and wonderful shrines in Sri Lanka that is about 250 years old. The old-fashioned marvelous church is visited by thousands of devotees from every corner of the island. Here lies the sacred and miracle statute of St. Anne, who is the mother of Virgin Mary and the grandmother of Jesus, wedged in the catholic shrine. Many miracles have been imprinted by the wonderful history of this church. During the Annual 7 days’ feast in August and in Christmas season the whole church is packed and it is the season of festive. The roads heading to the church are well-constructed, you can travel by your vehicle and the beach is in sight with a great view.
