Little bit about Ruwanweliseya Stupa

The Stupa is one of the world’s tallest monuments and it is about 350 ft high. This is one of the top sacred places of Buddhists. This temple construction was started by King Dutugemunu, although he was not alive to see the completed temple, other Kings who followed him continued to preserve and renovate it. The sacred temple is renowned for its architectural designs and its own unique form. You will also see the granite statues of King Dutugamunu and Queen Vihara Mahadevi – the mother of King Dutugamunu in the temple. It is said that the Stupa is one of the eight places of veneration situated in Anuradhapura.
