Little bit about Riverston

Two of the most breathtaking waterfalls in Sri Lanka are found in the Riverston area. The Sera Ella Falls and Bambarakiri Ella Falls are a true testament to the beauty of a waterfall. A climb to the top of the waterfall can be undertaken by experienced climbers with proper gear to take in the views from above. Regular visitors can sit at the bottom of the waterfall and enjoy the cooling spray from the water.
The Riverston Peak is the crown jewel of the Riverston Trek. With paths lying along the misty hills you can also appreciate how the locals live in perfect harmony with nature. The terraced paddy cultivation is a feature unique to the locals of this area. Even though
it is a long climb the peak has a jaw dropping 300m drop with breathtaking views of the adjoining Knuckles Mountain range. Riverston is most definitely a bucket List item for any tourist coming to Sri Lanka.
How to reach Riverston
Getting to Riverston is relatively easy. It is just 30km away from the Matale town on the Matale Girandurukotte road which is one of the most scenic routes in Sri Lanka. The road takes you through seemingly endless misty hills and winding hairpin turns all the
while offering some of the best views Sri Lanka has to offer. The views from Riverston are so entrancing that it is called the mini worlds end, reminiscence of the World End cliff in Horton Plains.
