Little bit about Polonnaruwa Archaeological Museum
This museum offers excellent insight into the art and history of the primitive city of Polonnaruwa. The museum features an outstanding collection on historical importance of the city. The museum is very well organized and it displays archaeological remains recovered from the site as well as scale models of the citadel's buildings.
The archaeological museum can be visited before touring the actual ruins to get an introduction on the city or after as your tour recapitulation. Bronze statues here represent the God Shiva worshipped by the Hindus in Sri Lanka.
The statue that shows the Lord Shiva been caught in the center of light while performing a ritual while trampling on a dwarf is simply amazing. You will be definitely delighted to see the ancient medical instruments kept at the museum.
