Little bit about Pinnawala Open Zoo
The first ever Open air Zoo to be declared open to the public is the Pinnawala Zoo in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is known as home to a rich diversity of animals, therefore, this zoo contains two zones, ‘Sri Lankan’ and ‘World’. The Pinnawala zoo resides a number of native animals which include; deer, leopard, crocodiles, birds, turtles and many species of monkeys etc. The Sri Lankan zone of the Zoo includes a special open section which shows the animals freely moving around, specially the Leopards, these leopards and the open section is amazing to watch. The “World” section is still to be constructed and said to be holding non native animal species. Since the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is close to the Zoo, the visitors could enjoy both places during one vacation. They also have places to dine and relax at the Zoo. The visit to this Zoo would be a great experience.
