Little bit about Mandaram Nuwara
Mandaram Nuwara (gloomy city) is a picturesque misty village, located at the foot hills of Piduruthalagala - on the Walapane end. The name ‘Mandaram Nuwara’ was given to this beautiful little village as the village is covered by the mist during most part of the day.
Located in the Nuwara Eliya district, adjacent to the Piduruthalagala Forest Reserve, this mountain top village is bounded to Piduruthalagala mountain from the west and Balagolla montain range from the east. Due to this geographical location, it receives rain much of the year around.
Lush green mountains covered with silky mist cover, cascading waterfalls and natural pools, acres of paddy fields together with lovely villagers, make this forest village one of the most beautiful places in Sri Lanka. Do not forget to visit Kolapathana Ella Waterfall which is located in the village itself.
This is one of the best places in the country for adventurous excursions like trekking, hiking and camping in the middle of a breath-taking mountain village.
Villagers are very friendly and definitely help you out to make your visit a very exiting and a pleasant one. Do not forget to taste a bit of fresh jaggery produced by the villagers during your visit.
