Little bit about Bundala National Park
If you are a bird lover, and making plans for your next vacation, Bundala National Park is the best place to visit. Bundala National Park is an important National Park of Sri Lanka. It is known as wintering ground for migratory water birds, and is internationally proven. Unlike the Yala National Park, Bundala is not much known among locals and tourists, although, not much famous, this National Park offers a lot of adventure.
For wildlife junkies looking for a wet- season fix, Bundala National Park is an excellent choice. A staggering amount of bird species, 197, to be precise, could be found as well as other animals like crocodiles, wild boars, monitors, elephants etc. could be spotted too. Just like in Yala Safari, most visitors to Bundala, travel via open jeeps to experience the tour with much excitement. They even have safari rides for a better experience with the animals.
Things to know before you go
- Best time to enter the park is early in the morning
- Do not feed the animals
- Do not tease the animals
- No smoking, no liquor
- Eat at designated rest areas only
- Do not get down from the Safari Jeeps
- Bring plenty of water, sun protections creams, sunglasses, caps/hats
- Always listen to the driver's/ guide's instructions
