Little bit about Bambarakiri Ella Falls
This is a hidden but enchanted beauty you should visit on your major itinerary when travelling in Matale. The place is 30-45 mins drive from Matale via Rattota and lies on the way to Riverston. It’s easily accessible with a walk of just 200m from the main road.
Bambara Kiri Ella falls beautifully in three layers with a total height of about 10 metres, gushing and spraying cool, pure waters coming from Knuckles. Visitors can have a bath amidst the white waters and lush green hues of the nature. A suspension bridge stretches across the extent of the fall, allowing you to have a scenic view around.
It’s bit busy in weekends as many locals visit there in weekends. After having a cool bath, tasting some mouth watering ‘roti’ with red chillie paste from the little boutiques at the entrance would be great!
Things to know before you go
- Be cautious about the water levels when bathing
- Be cautious when crossing the suspension bridge
- Reach the layers of the fall carefully
- Do not litter in these immaculate surroundings
