Little bit about Arugam Bay Surfing

Known as the best surfing spot in the country, Arugam bay attracts most of its tourists for their moon-shaped curl of soft sand and calm seas which are great for surfing. This is where Sri Lanka's only international surf competition is held.

There are many break points within 30 minutes from the Argam Bay town. 'Main Point' is considered the most popular out of all and is the place where the international surf competition is held. Whiskey Point can be considered as the next best. Other points are Lighthouse Point, Pottuvil Point, Stardust Point, Cobra Point, Crocodile Rock, Elephant Rock, Peanut Farm, Panama Point, Panagala Point, Okanda Point. Baby Point is well known as the best place for beginers.

There are plenty of options if you are planning to rent a surfboard; generally the price is LKR 1,000 per day. If you are a beginer, there are plenty of surf schools and surf camps.
