Little bit about Angurukaramulla Temple
This temple is a must-visit place, if your interest is on historic architecture. Get inside the temple through the dragon’s mouth and it is supposed to ward off evil spirits. The massive Buddha statue is made entirely of marble and has been donated by the people of Burma. Ancient sculptures, amazing murals and paintings on the ceiling portray the Buddha's journey to enlightenment and stories of Sri Lanka's former rulers. You could also see the ruins of 300 years old library in the land of this temple. The temple is surrounded by tall trees and in the center there is a pond full of turtles. It is a wonderful and sacred place to see when you visit Negombo. A monk will take you around the temple, although you might be wanted to make a small donation and sign the guest book.
