Little bit about Ambuluwawa Tower
Ambuluwawa Tower(or temple) is one jaw drooping structure of building with great views. Located in Gampola, it’s about 6 km from Gampola railway station and a highly recommended place if you travel around this area.
The road to Ambuluwawa tower is a winding road of 5km. The road can be bit difficult, but you can easily reach there with a high ground clearance vehicle. Also as another option, you can take a tuk-tuk right upto the summit. And if you are physically fit, you can hike the whole trek, yes it’s all possible!
Usually the tower gates are opened from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. and first you need to buy a ticket from the ticket counter to climb up the tower.
The staircase can be slippery at times, but bear it patiently till your eyes are rewarded the fortune to see the heavenly views.
After reaching the top of the tower which is 3567 feet above the sea level, the goose bumping views you will get there are unforgettable. It is signified as one of the greatest view points in Gampola because its climbers can view a panoramic scenery of the beautiful hill country including Adam’s Peak, Bible Rock, and Alagalla mountain. It’s more astonishing to see how the mist from low lands rise up to create misty white clouds.
Also travelers can see a Buddhist temple, Hindu temple, a Church and a Mosque within Ambuluwawa tower premises. Do not forget to visit the Ambuluwawa Environmental Conversation, Development and Bio Diversification Centre too, for you can enjoy nature studies there.
Ideal time of the day to visit - be on the top early morning or evening to watch the sunrise or sunset
